FAQs – Irish Whiskey Merchant
Below are some FAQs, but if you have other questions, please contact us via info@irishwhiskeymerchant.com
Sellers deliver bottles to Irish Whiskey Merchant. These bottles are then checked by our team and listed on the website for the next auction. Irish Whiskey Merchant runs an auction every month and registered users can bid on the bottles once the auction has begun. The highest bidder at the close of the auction is then notified and asked for payment- they have 7 days to pay for their Lot (otherwise late fees will apply). The seller receives payment within 7 days after all their sold items have been paid for by their respective bidders.
At Irish Whiskey Merchant we offer valuations free of charge. If you would like a valuation, please email a description of the whisky & image to: valuations@irishwhiskeymerchant.com. Please note that the value of a bottle of whisky is constantly fluctuating, valuations will be given based on latest market trends.
Selling on Irish Whiskey Merchant couldn’t be easier! The seller’s fees are:
• A £5 (plus VAT) registration fee for each lot.
• An additional £5 (plus VAT) fee if you’d like to put a reserve on that lot.
• We would only recommend setting a reserve price if it’s a niche product that’s rarely seen for sale but this decision is solely up to yourself. Please also note the following:
• 5% Sellers commission on hammer price.
• If you live within the UK, VAT of 20% will be added to all fees, including delivery and commission, but not added to the hammer price. If you live outside the UK, you will not be charged VAT (VAT will be applied at 0%).
• For 'VAT Applicable' lots (i.e. lots being sold either by a UK VAT Registered business, or a seller from out with the UK), VAT will also be added to the hammer price of the goods.
• For customers out with the UK/EU, a payment surcharge of 3.5% will apply to payments made by credit card.

The end date of the current auction is always clearly displayed on the homepage. From 8 pm onwards, the software begins to monitor online activity on the Irish Whiskey Merchant site. It will then close the auction at an unspecified time to defend the site against sniper software. As a result, the site will begin the closing process from 8pm onwards rather than closing at a specified time.
From previous experience, it will most likely finish sometime after 9pm. This process will also eliminate any need to rush bids at 8pm.
We will discuss reserves when booking in your bottles. Please note that reserves attract an additional fee per lot (£5 per lot) and are at the auctioneer’s discretion.
As many as you wish.
A £5 (plus VAT) registration fee for each lot.
An additional £5 (plus VAT) fee if you’d like to put a reserve on that lot.
Please note these charges are applicable each time a lot is listed in the case of relistings.
Usually around 14 days after the auction has ended. Please note that if we have to wait on payments coming in from the winners of your entered lots then this may take longer.
